The significant visual style of our times, isn't so much a given style, but the facility we have in shifting between styles. Watch any major sporting event, close ups, wide camera view, overlays, slow motion, reverse angle, birds eye view ... We have eyes specialized for low light or daylight vision, specialized for peripheral motion or detailed focus. Our art is reflecting this era's "tool for a given task."
A given expression / style for a particular meaning? Not certain where this will lead, but we are following it. Will it be a flowering of different cultural expressions, or a cacophony of scholastic styles? Does art have a specific task? Or will this multitude of differing styles force it into choosing a task in order to justify its selected expressive style?
